In Pennsylvania, the Amish
community, along with other vaccine-hesitant Pennsylvanians, is being
targeted by public health officials with home visits to ensure they get
vaccinated.
It is well known that the Amish, who reject many of the trappings of modern life, take a pragmatic and faith-based approach to health and, while many might turn to modern medicine when absolutely necessary, they prefer folk remedies, herbal teas and natural treatments that are passed down through generations. Yet public health officials have embarked on a door-to-door “boots on the ground” campaign to push vaccines onto them.
